Monika Drápalová

Head designer of women collection Pietro Filipi

She won the Czech Grand Design Award in the category of the Fashion Designer of the Year in 2008 and 2013. In 2013, she even became the Grand Designer of the Year, the highest award across all categories. Apart from working for Pietro Filipi, she also teaches at the Secondary Technical School of Fashion Design in Prague. “I’m pretty tough on students,” she laughs. “I have to prepare them for the fact that a designer is not just a bohemian stylist spending his time drawing. It is vital to tap into technologies, types of material and their properties.”

Monika Drápalová also creates fashion under her own brand Modrá and has recorded a great number of professional successes. She presented her work in showrooms and fashion shows in Paris, New York or Shanghai. She also worked as a fashion director for Korloff Couture in the French capital.

„The Parisians are known for their relaxed manners, natural style and certain randomness. Originality plays a big role for them.“
