Personal Branding for Outstanding Women
My whole business is based on my name and my personal brand. Therefore I am the first to recognize the importance of this essential topic in strategic communications for women in business and leadership. More, I recognize that Personal Branding isn’t only about communications: it is the courage to define who you are, to show up and show yourself to the world, to take full responsibility for your communications in failure and success, to expose yourself and be vulnerable – and, thanks to that, to grow in the direction of your dreams. Personal Branding is a complex and emotionally challenging subject. I am here for the women who would like to take an honest look in the mirror, then learn how to own the mirror.
I am a European with a Romanian passport living in Prague. A former business journalist, I started my practice as a strategic communication advisor, trainer and coach in May 2010. Since then my business grew to encompass a variety of themes, from Personal Branding to Storytelling in Business, Media Training and Crisis Communications, Communications for Women in Leadership and more. I have also become an internationally certified trainer of personal development with the Enneagram and of Systemic Dynamics in Business Organisations. Now I am facing the challenge of bringing these two wonderful tools – the Enneagram and Systemic Dynamics – to my daily practice, in order to help leaders and future leaders to communicate better, more authentically, truthfully and meaningfully for the sake of their careers, businesses and lives.
What dream would you like to fulfill?
I would like to leave a meaningful legacy behind: the books I wrote, the people I supported and the difference I made in the world and in people’s lives.
What advice would you give to women to develop their career?
Clarify what you want as early as possible. Don’t be afraid to grow – when you grow, your world grows (your family, relationships, career and business). Learn early to ask for help and delegate. Rest and develop critical distance. Live fully and have fun in the process
Why do you consider your participation at the event „Ženy sobě“ and the women´s support to be important?
Women need to feel that they are not alone in the challenges they are facing at work and in real life. I am here to inspire with my story and provide energy for women who find themselves at a challenging crossroad in their career and life.
What stereotypes, family prejudices, tied to the concept of MONEY have you had to overcome?
The biggest challenge that I had to overcome was related to my father’s conviction that we need to be satisfied with what it is (read: what he could bring home) and that wanting more would be a personal insult to him and his capacities. It was a heart-breaking moral dillema, because my emotional set-up was: „If you want / ask for more, you will hurt someone you love.“ I needed to learn that I can – and I deserve – to love and be loved also when I want more and when I go after what I want. Money included
If you were to explain to an alien what money means for us what would you say?
It’s a trade mechanism that most people get wrong. Money is condensed energy that can bring new, good things in one’s lives, but it can also lead to ruin and misery when the means (money) becomes the purpose. A two-edged sword that, if you want to survive on Earth, you’d better learn to master fast and well, my dear Alien
What makes you happy at work?
The sense of purpose, the fact that what I do is aligned with my life mission and vision and the visible inner transformation I observe in the people I work with. When you help a leader to transform, you transform a whole world: a team, a company or family culture, a role of the company in the society. Working with leaders is the greatest honor life could have bestowed upon me and I intend to serve this purpose further to the best of my abilities.
